design...as much need finding as answer finding...

In Design, Creation without Application is just Imagination..!

When hobby becomes profession...

Some time back, I had an argument with my friends over the topic "When Hobby becomes profession". I stated that if we make our hobby our profession; we will get a new hobby! Most of my friends strongly opposed my opinion. A question is why I said so?

Let me elaborate. It’s a human nature; boredom is an output of monotonous life. When life goes on the same track; we tend to divert ourselves to do something different. Moreover it is not boredom but it is a tendency of human mind to have a change in life.

The moment you choose your hobby as your profession; it becomes your routine task from which you expect to get revenues. Hence it becomes highly professional. I, personally, have converted my passions into profession but I still have my hobbies on the other end. I guess; we misinterpret the words 'Hobby' and 'Passion'.

A year after this incident, I again asked same question to same guys; what is your hobby? The answers contradicted with the earlier answers.
I am not here to discourage people who have converted their hobbies into profession, just wanted to make a point…When hobby becomes profession; you get a new Hobby!

Is the coin in Designer's court...?

whats next .............?

Finally...a symbol for Indian Currency. Thanks to D Udaya Kumar. Remarkable move in Indian Design. Now it will take around 6 months and 24 months to adapt the symbol at National and International level respectively as said by Information and Broadcasting Minister, India.

All apart; I would like to talk about Design Awareness in India after this recognition of a designer at an International level. We can't really predict but there are some industries which are not aware about the existence of design and its applications. People who have not introduced themselves to design have an opinion exactly opposite to that of designers and Currency Symbol is the best example for it. It is not about criticizing the symbol but it is about why are we wasting money in creating symbol; when there are other problems to solve in India. So, what will be the role of a designer in such cases? How do we make people aware of design? The blogs, forums etc. have their limited area. Only designers and related people in the industry go through them.

Time is the answer but there remains a question in my mind how can a designer boost the speed?
